Top 2 Tuesday

image

Just swiped this off my friend's blog, who swipped it off of www.theundomesticmomma.com - looks fun, and will give us something else to do!  Plus, who doesnt love a good PIP poll?

The Top 2 Things You Collect

1.  Books.  I have a ridiculous amount of books, and I try to read way too many at the same time.  For example, I am currently juggling 5 different books, with 10 more just waiting for me to finish one to move on through my piles...

2.  Clothes.  And I'm not talking about my clothes.  I'm talking about clothes for Sami.  This was her closet before she was even born:

And it's not getting better!  I bought all of her summer clothes last year because I found out she was a girl when last year's summer and spring clothes were out, and even still I can't not walk into Target or BRU or Kohls and leave without something new for her.  In my defense, it's usually off the clearance rack, which makes it even worse, because now this year's Fall items are on sale, and I'm stalking up on 12mos clothes!

ETA:  Edited out the PIPs because they were annoying me.

Re: Top 2 Tuesday

  • I've thought about it long and hard...and I realized...I don't really collect anything anymore.
  • I've come to hate clutter, so I can't say that I purposely collect anything, but....

    Clothes - I seem to have a lot:/

Photographs - I have lots of my own and family members have been giving me older ones of theirs so that they are kept nicely and all together. I think I'm the only one on both sides of my family who cares about stuff like that.

  • 1) My unintentional collection: purses. I have so many and they're so pretty but I don't use all of them nearly enough.

    2) my intentional collection: snowglobes; more specifically Disney ones. It's weird and maybe a little childish but I love them. It's my hope that when we have our first child we'll make the nursery a neutral/Disney sort of theme and line the top of the walls with the snowglobes.

  • I also collect books, I have so many unread books that I've been meaning to read and I still buy more!

Right now, I'm reading: Taking Charge of Your Fertility, What to Expect When You're Expecting (even though I'm not even pregnant), Wicked (I have this in both book and ebook form!), a couple of gardening books

Hair supplies, like shampoo, conditioner, hair ties, etc.  I can never find anything to help with my dry scalp so I'm always trying a different shampoo/conditioner.

ETA: I don't intentionally collect the hair stuff, I just have way too many of them.

I used to collect these too! Right now, all of mine are packed up in a box in my mom's basement. I think I have about 30 of all different sizes and I have no idea what to do with them! Lol. Some of them I could part with easily, but some are sentimental.

  • Clothing & hair care products.

I hate hate hate throwing away an article of clothing. What if I need it when I lose weight? It's better to save it than have to spend more $$ to buy another when I need it.

For hair stuff, I'm slightly obsessed with trying out anything "new." I have so many different hair masques/deep conditioners that I don't even know what to do with them. They all work fine but I just can't help myself in trying to find something that is just "better".

  • I collect makeup. I'm a sucker for trying something new and then using it twice and forgetting about it.

Also recipes..although that mostly just means a lot of saved bookmarks.

Oh! And we collect magnets from the places we visit.

  • Pandora stations. I have like 20 or so.

Blogs in my reader. I just added two today.

  • I used to collect dolls when I was little, my grandmother started me on that collection. I haven't added to it in many many yrs and now they are at my moms in a box.

H and I collect christmas tree ornaments from all the places we visit.

  • 1. ditto the ornaments, we always buy one from new places we visit

    2. recipes.  OMG, they are everywhere.  In books, on my google reader, in stacks torn out from magazines, on my cookbook stand, on my bulletin board.  I don't even want to know how many I have saved in the "need to make" categories...

  • I really can't think of anything I collect currently.  If I had unlimited funds, I would collect antique cameras.  I do have a few that I love, but I would like to get more.

I guess if it counts I collect photographs, I just backed up 30,000 photographs from my laptop and that is just the ones that I hadn't back up in the past couple of months.

I would also collect art if I had extra money to spend.  I have a few pieces from friends I went to art school with that I love as well as some prints of famous artworks I love.

ETA: I just realized that I accidentally collect wine.  People know I LOVE wine and usually buy bottles for me that they think I'll like.  My SIL works in a liquor store and has taken to buying me any wine with "***" in the title due to an inside joke we have.  I love them but haven't tried them yet since she got me most of them while I was pregnant.

  • Ornaments and refrigerator magnets from everywhere we go on vacation. One of my favorite parts of vacation is finding the perfect new pieces.
  • I have two real collections: Margaret Furlong ornaments and vintage jewelry. My husband would say I collect magazines too, but that's doesn't count. ;-)
  • I think the only thing I currently collect is ornaments from places we visit.

Things I collected when I was a kid and still have are PEZ dispensers, ceramic teddy bears, stuffed animals and glass figurines.
