Re: Q of the Day:
1. Do you journal? I started a gardening journal this year. I got this one from Amazon. I reeealllly really wish I had written down our gardening successes and failures last year, from when we planted things to what varieties thrived and which didn't. So I'm keeping the journal of all that stuff this year. The one from Amazon has different sections for weather, activities in the garden, bugs/animals, etc... so I'm sure I'm getting everything. Now come next year when I think to myself "when should I plant peas?!?" I can look at the journal and go "mid to late March, depending on when the temps get up to 50 degrees reliably."
2. Do you enjoy bird-watching? I like it, but I don't go out and do it if that makes sense. I'll sit with my Mom and watch the birds on her feeders and talk to her about them, but we don't go to park to birdwatch or anything like that.

Yes. I've kept a diary since around 4th grade (there are some gems in there!). Lately i've enjoyed choosing a poem or a few lines of poetry or prose and reflecting on that.

Have you ever seen flocks of migrating snow geese? When the flock is disturbed, the all take flight... the sound is incredible (their beating wings and cacauphony of honks) and it's like being surrounded by a school of giant white fish, all moving together.
I do, but i am not a birder. I do not have the sort of patience required to watch small birds. Eagles, owls and swans, those i can watch
I do love small birds, too, and know a few songs -- two of my favorite songs are those of the Swainson's Thrush and the Winter Wren.

1. Do you journal? Bonus points if you want to share what got you started, etc. I do irregularly about my overall health. I started because I have hypothyroidism and adrenal fatigue. In one of the books about adrenal fatigue, it talked about how keeping a journal can help you see your progress and identify what makes things better and worse. It does help to keep the journal, I just wish I could discipline myself to do it every day instead of whenever I notice feeling particularly good or bad.
I also keep a journal, if you can call it that, about my menstrual cycle. It's more of a calendar that I use for really detailed notes about the severity and length of cramps and PMS, when my period starts, the days that I take the supplements that are supposed to help, when I go to acupuncture, etc. Strange, I know, but I used to get horrific cramps and the calendar journal thing has made a huge difference.
2. Do you enjoy bird-watching? Again, bonus points if you want to elaborate. I can watch birds for a few minutes and then I get bored.
Tired after a long morning of hiking and swimming.

I have tried to get started many times, but it never gets past the first day or two.

I like watching my cats watching birds. They are indoor only, and we are planting a lot of native flowers and plants to hopefully attract more birds and insects. I love how excited my 3 get when they realize there's a bird outside
1. I used to, but stopped about 8 years ago. I have started journaling a little bit for my daughter- things she does each month, etc. But this is not on a daily basis.
2. My elderly neighbors have lots of bird feeders and I have noticed I like to see all the different birds that come to them. And now that my parents live closeby, they have some as well. I don't go out and sit to watch the birds, but I do notice them more than before.

Same for me
2. Do you enjoy bird-watching? Again, bonus points if you want to elaborate. Sure, especially waterfowl, but I wouldn't call myself a birder. Despite that I have a gigantic book of Audobon prints that I've looked through hundreds of times, I have trouble identifying most birds.
