Thank you again for your BA tips. I meant to thank you soon after we got back, but everything has been so busy!

You should definitely head to Patagonia sometime...but I would think it would be pretty frigid during the winter!

We liked Colonia, although we were only there for about 5-6 hours and it was pretty rainy most of the time. It's a cute little town (and quite a nice chance of pace from busy BA) and I might be lying if I didn't say part of the reason we went was to check Uruguay off our list (although now I've heard they have some awesome beaches that I'd love to check out at some point).

We seem to have fairly similar interests in travel destinations! Any idea what's next on your list? I think we're leaning towards Columbia, hopefully early next year.

  • No problem!  I was glad to hear you had a good trip.

I've been wanting to go to Patagonia for a long time, but the timing of my trips to B.A. never seemed to work out - either I was there in July when it was too cold, or December when it was too close to Christmas.  One of these days, I'll make it there!

Oh, I would totally do the same thing if I hadn't already been to Montevideo - I once took the train from Vienna to Bratislava and walked around for an hour, just to check Slovakia off of my list.  Glad to hear it was a doable day trip; I was thinking it would be something good for DH to do on his own while I'm at work.

Our in-laws are taking the whole family to Turks & Caicos over Thanksgiving, so that will pretty much take up the rest of our vacation time for this year.  As for next year, I don't know yet.  It's rare that we don't have any travel plans, so I imagine I will be itching to plan something after Thanksgiving.  However, DH would like to start TTC at the end of the year, so I guess we will have to see how that goes and figure out our travel plans accordingly.  I suspect we may end up going somewhere in Central America next, since it's relatively cheap and DH can also surf there. Thailand and Vietnam were runner-ups when we decided on New Zealand, but after having enough miles to fly business class to NZ, it is going to be really difficult to go back to coach for that long of a flight!

Let me know if you end up going to Colombia, I have a couple of friends who have lived there and can recommend good places to visit.  I've only been to Bogota, which was a surprisingly nice city.  If you go, you have to eat at one of the Crepes and Waffles restaurants, they're fabulous :)
