Teacher roll call

I know we have a lot of teachers and soon to be teachers on this board. Just curious how many we actually have, and what everyone teaches. (grade level, subject, etc.)

I am certified 6-12, in History/Social Studies and English/Language Arts. I am actually working through the U of I right now while finishing up my Masters of Education, because my last teaching position was cut last Spring. I just accepted another job for fall, which will be teaching 10-12 grade English.

Re: Teacher roll call

  • I'm certified K-9, with middle school endorsements in Mathematics/Language Arts/Science/Social Studies/Health.  I student taught in 2008 in a first grade room, and last year I taught 7th grade math and science, but the position was cut.  I spent this year subbing and teaching a 2nd grade religious education class on Saturdays.  Hoping for a K-5 position, but would teach middle school again if there were any positions open.

  • I'm certified pre-k to 3 with special ed cert in pre-k and k.  I am currently teaching in a inclusive pre-k classroom which is tons of fun, although my ideal would be first grade.

  • I'm finishing up my M. Ed. in Secondary Social Studies, so come June I will be certified grades 7-12.  I would loooove to teach senior government, but mainly just want a job the coming year!

  • I am certified 7-12 Mathematics.  Currently teaching sophmores- Geometry, last year I taught Algebra 2 (soph & juniors).  I will be starting my Masters in Curriculum in the fall, and going to AP training this summer- so I can teach AP Stats YAY!!
  • Does being an Assistant Prof count??  I teach neuroscience & anatomy to medical students, physcian assistant students, PT students, & dental students & grad students.

I should say I am LEARNING how to teach those things.   It's not as easy as it looks!!  And I quickly learned that learning something to take a test is like 1/3 of how well you need to know it to teach it!!

I have a bunch of lectures this week.   I can't believe how exhausting it is!!  I hope that next fall, when I am giving these lectures for the second time, it will be easier.

  • I am currently in my last 10 days of student teaching! I will be certified to teach 7-12 Language Arts. Right now I am teaching 9th and 11th English. Next year, I will be teaching 7, 8, 9 English and 8 Reading. I'm so excited to get started!
  • I'm a former teacher. Certified 7-12 Math, have my MAT (MA in Teaching, it's like a practical version of an MEd) I used to teach HS math (Alg 1, Geom) and left for many reasons, the biggest being the administration @ my school and not being allowed to teach new courses (I was basically told, well you have 100% SOL pass rates, so you're going to teach these two classes forever b/c we need the test scores). I still coach over at the HS with the marching band and winterguard (competitive indoor guard).

I am now working on getting my MAIS in Higher Ed admin so I can be an academic advisor and (hopefully) teach Univ 100 courses where ever I get hired (hopefully where I am working/going to school right now)

  • I'm a high school guidance counselor - does that count?  I've been at my current school for 11 years, and at a school in Central PA for 4 years before I moved back to Pittsburgh.  My current caseload is all the seniors and half the freshmen, but we're thinking of switching to an alphabetical system.  I also direct the fall play, and I'm an assistant director for the musical.

Where were you in central PA? My DH went to school in the Harrisburg area, and I taught at Franklin-Regional (near Monroeville) when I was getting my BS and MAT at Pitt :) I miss Pittsburgh lots and lots!

  • I am currently an elementary reading specialist.  I work with 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th grade students.  I am considering putting in a voluntary transfer to teach 7th grade reading and 6th and 7th grade reading support.  I need to decide by tomorrow!  Ahhh, still can't decide if I want to!

  • I am certified K-6, Math 5-9 and Business 6-12. I am currently teaching 6th grade math and geography.
  • I am new to this so hi everyone :) I am certified PreK-6 and middle school. I prefer teaching the little guys though :) I was an Early Childhood SPED teacher last year but my husband and I bought a house over an hour away and commuting became expensive and a pain. So I am currently subbing for the county we live in and I've been tutoring on the side for two years. I really hope to find a job in the Fall.
