How have your pollen allergies been?
I'm medicated but still feeling it, though not nearly as bad as if I wasn't medicated. Without Zyrtec, I'd be a red-eyed snotty mess. Anyone else take Zyrtec? I was symptom-free one year and the last two years I've been mildly symptomatic--I'm wondering if it was differences in pollen from year-to-year or because I got cheap and switched to generic.
Re: How have your pollen allergies been?
Mine haven't been too bad. I never had allergies before a few years ago, and mine generally aren't horrible though. DH has some pretty nasty allergies but they aren't as bad as last year (yet).
He can't find an OTC allergy med that works well for him. He's trying allegra now.

I take prescription meds and I still haven't been able to breathe out of my nose for a week and a half, nor can I taste food. TMI question below I was going to ask my mom later..
Again, this is TMI! About three days ago all of my snot and stuff I coughed up went from normal looking to lime green.. thoughts? Does this mean possibly a sinus infection?
I'm with you girl. I started with a sore throat on Monday. Yesterday had to blow my nose every 30 seconds. Just clear. Now I'm on the lime green kick. Is it allergies or something more? I have sore throat, stuffy nose, etc.
It could be. Last year I had bright green mucous when I had my sinus infection, which came on after awful allergies for a few weeks. I just went to the CVS minute clinic and got antibiotics and it helped immensely.
Mary--The first few days I took Zyrtec I was a zombie. I thought I had mono or something really serious and I was considering going to the doctor. I just slept for something like 13 hours straight--I wasn't "tired" I just couldn't bring myself to get up. I kept taking it, one pill before bed, and the fuzziness wore off. Unless I'm constantly operating at 80% which could be the reality.
Lisa--green usually means pathogens, not allergens. I'd go to the Dr.

Thank you! Amber, I have been the same with the sore throat and coughing too, I think we should both head to the minute clinic today! I leave next week for a wedding in OC then go right to BF's sanctuary in Utah and I really don't want to be sick for it!
NDM - are you at work today? the CVS in Harbor East has a minute clinic.
I've been on Claritin 24 hour since early March, but just the past week or two, it seems like it's not keeping my allergies in check 100%. I was on Zyrtec previously and found that it made me really drowsy/spacey - Claritin seems better for me but I have to drink A LOT of water or I feel dehydrated.
NDM - generally any time your mucous is a yellow/green color, it means you have an infection. Green is the worst - you probably want to see a doctor unfortunately
Agreed because I'm miserable. Now I have to pry myself out of bed. I have zero energy.
I'm right with you Lisa! For about two weeks now, I've been taking clarin-d and I feel like it's not doing much. I can actually breath today, but most mornings I'm blowing my nose and coughing up some nasty stuff. One day I'll wake up with a sore throat and then the next, I won't. I hate this time of year.
You might have an infection of some kind. I thought mine was allergies (I take Zyrtec and two prescriptions) but then I started coughing up and blowing the green crap from my nose and I went to the doctor. Usually that's a sign of infection vs. allergies. It took me 1.5 weeks after the antibiotics to feel better. Unfortunately DH got it then too.
To answer the OP, I'm feeling better since I finally got over my sickness but I still have some allergy symptoms. I have been worlds better since I added Singulair to my daily Zyrtec and Flonase.

Interesting. DH is having trouble finding a med to work well for him. He didn't get relief from Zyrtec so he tried Claritan but wasn't sure if it was helping. He is trying Allegra now that it went OTC.
Allegra is my BFF. I'm annoyed it is available OTC now because it now costs me more money versus when I got it through a prescription. It knocks me out (all allergy meds, regardless if non drowsy) but does the trick.

Huh, that's really interesting. I'm crossing my fingers that it will work for me this year but if not I might resort to taking 2 zrytecs a day...
