You volunteer at the shelter near me right? How is the stock of orange kittens?

Others - do you have a shelter that you would rec or avoid when getting a pet?

Re: *MIB*

  • I don't remember seeing any orange kittens last time I was there. Honestly though, you may just want to call, because it could have changed since I was there on Saturday....animals come and go so quickly. I will make sure to look this weekend for you when I go! Does it have to be a kitten? I think there was at least one orange older cat...

  • I had thought that DH would be fine with an older cat, but now he has decided that he would really like to go with a younger cat/kitten.

He has been wanting a cat since we moved, and I had told him that if he got me a basement he could have a cat. I have put him off for a year, but yesterday on pet of the week the girl (who's not you :(  ) said that it is kitten season and he got all panicy that time was going to run out to get a kitten if we didn't do it soon. So I did some thinking today and decided he/we can get a cat.

He is thinking about taking Friday off to go look for a kitten, I am on vacation.

  • I remember you talking about dh wanting a cat. Well I'll keep on eye out for orange ones if you don't find any on Friday.  I know there were some really cute grey (I think) kittens there last time. It's nice we have 3 shelters within a half hour radius of us, so hopefully you'll be able to find one! :)

I've seen the picture of your cat lurking high on the cabinet in the bathroom waiting to pounce on people...

Besides, no one wants to see sweet Helen cry when her kitty leaves Big Smile

You know what's even better?  When he sits on the half-wall to our loft area which overlooks the sofa in the living room.

Helen and Henry were sparring with each other tonight.  Sometimes I end up yelling at the two of them and I think "Why do I have to break up fights when I only have one child?!"

  • OMG! I used to hate orange cats and then I ended up with one (I guess I rescued him) and now I LOVE orange cats!!

You have to tell us if you get one!

Just some other options besides the 3 area shelter MIB spoke of. Feral Felines is really cool as they trap, speuter, and release the adults, but if the kittens are under 8 weeks they take them into adoption. The second one is Charlie's Strays which is a small no-kill shelter in Clinton that is really committed to the animals, and Save our Strays is a network of foster homes in central ME, but technically based in Fairfield.  HTH!

ETA: Petfinder.com, adoptapet.com, and petango.com are all rescue search engines you can use to narrow down your search as well!
