tree websites

I was looking to purchase a couple of trees (one of them being an apple tree). I would like to get a semi grown apple or dwarf apple tree and have been looking at some websites, but I am a bit weary.

Has anyone ordered from fastgrowingtrees.com or do you have any suggestions?

Thanks!!!

Re: tree websites

  • What do you mean by "semi grown"?  My parents have done well with fruit trees from Stark Brothers.
  • I have seen sites that sell almost mature trees which say they will possibly produce fruit this year. Again, not sure how true this is....
  • You shouldn't buy a single apple tree.  They need to other trees to pollinate and produce fruit.  Buy at least 2 apple

Fruit trees seldom get bigger than 25'.

Apple trees need pollinators, and must be planted near the companion tree(s).

I recommend you buy well-structured trees from a local nursery.

One person recommended Stark Brothers in Missouri. I don't know where you live, but they are a very reputable nursery and ship fruit trees to other retail nurseries all across the country. If you buy mail order, I recommend buying bare root trees. I do NOT agree with most published planting guides (including Starks); I agree with the bare root planting method as outlined by Cornell University.
