"Rust" spots on dishes?
Hi from the WC board:)
My all white Villeroy and Boch all white china has started to develop some rust-colored stains on the bottom/back (but not the front?). It's bone china and I use a GE dishwasher with Cascade liquid detergent.... Anyone have any experience with this issue?
Thanks:)

Re: "Rust" spots on dishes?
Yes. You must have high iron water. China is more sensitive and porous so the iron deposit show first there. Don't wash the china in the dishwasher, If you wash and dry the china by hand, you won't have this issue. The rust stains should come add with an acid bath. Mix one cup food safe acid (lemon juice, vinegar, old wine) with four cups water. Let soak for 20 minutes. Wash with hand soap and dy immediately.
Eventually your dishwasher will develop rust spots on the inside. To avoid this, pick up some powered lemonade. Run an empty wash cycle with the powdered lemonade in the detergent dispenser. Vinegar will also work, but the lemonade smells better.
Thank you! This explains a lot since it didn't start happening til we moved to Illinois (from Pittsburgh).
Isn't Pittsburgh the Iron City or is that just a good beer there?
Iron and Ironic.
