we had a handyman remove our fence, add lattice to the bottom of our deck, add a gate to our deck, fix the top of one railing, and remove our hot tub. he charged $220. would you tip? if so, how much? he did a good job but i won't use him again. we agreed h would help haul stuff to his truck to keep costs down (his idea) but then he kept coming over to do work when he felt like it instead of adhering to when h is home in the afternoon(he knew h's schedule). so we ended up not getting the money taken off the price that we would have if h had helped. i am not unhappy with the job and i think the price was fair. so would you tip? if so, how much? oh by the way he mentioned some of his other clients tip (nice, huh?) so i sort of feel obligated but i dont know if i would otherwise. by the way he is a one man show - he doesnt work for someone. not sure if that helps or not.

Re: would you tip?
Yep - this. I would also be temped to tell him that I appreciated the work, but found it odd that he basically requested a tip.
The statements in bold are why I would not feel tipped! He should consider the money he didnt take off b/c he didnt give your h a chance to help as his tip.
