Royal Wedding Party

Anyone have cute ideas for this?  Ours is going to be a coed evening party, so I want to go more funny than overly girlie.  Thanks!

Re: Royal Wedding Party

  • a wedding cake for dessert
tiaras for the ladies (I think this is girly, but still ok)
a champagne bar - think strawberries, peach schnapps and OJ
soundtrack of wedding song playing in the background

  • here is a cute party that can give you some inspiration. there are even free printable items.
  • Thanks, ladies!  That blog has some adorable ideas!  I think I'm OK on the menu (traditional cocktail party food, with a few English things thrown in, like toffee), but I am still working on decorations.  I have several Union Jack flags that I am going to put around, but I am having a hard time deciding whether to go more "British-y" or more "wedding-y."  I am thinking of putting out a wedding guest book with fake names (Camilla, David and Victoria Beckham, etc).  I was also going to put a pair of crazy glasses on the piano and put a a ribbon with a card that says "reserved for Sir Elton."  The girls are going to wear tiaras and fascinators.  I'm not sure what to do about a cake. I'd love to do an actual wedding cake, but I know that would be ridiculously expensive.  Cupcakes?  Should I get a bakery to do a simple white round cake with a monogram topper or something?  Any ideas are appreciated!
  • I am also trying to think of a cute favor.  I picked up some very cute little white boxes with ribbon.  My mom suggested filling them with Hershey kisses and putting a little sign out that says 'Kiss me, Kate!"

  • I heard this fun thing:  What is your Royal Wedding guest name?  Start with a title of nobility (Lord, Lady, Earl, etc.)  Your first name is the name of one of your grandparents.  Your surname is the name of your first pet, paired with the street where you grew up.

Mine is Baroness Emily Barnaby of Sherbrook.  :)

Anyways, you could have all the guests come up with their "names" to sign the guestbook.

I like the wedding cake idea.  Even making a box white cake in two layers, with white frosting and a wedding cake topper would be enough to create the "wedding cake effect" without spending a fortune on a real wedding cake.

I think your ideas are cute!! Sounds like a really fun party.

  • You could also put out seating or table cards for all the guests with fake British names or titles on them. A fun game might be to guess who each person is (you could write inside who they really belong to or hold on to answers and whoever guesses the most wins a prize).
