Green Cleaning Products During Pregnancy
I just found out today that I am pregnant. I am so excited, but I am concerned about chemicals in common cleaning products. Are there any cleaning products that are safe to use while pregnant or does anyone have any ideas?
Re: Green Cleaning Products During Pregnancy
I use vinegar and hot water to mop my floors.
I use Bon Ami to scrub my tub (non-toxic). I buy it at my co op, but it's also available at Target.
I use a paste of baking soda and Dr. Bronner's lavender liquid soap (non-toxic, available at Target) to clean the toilet and sink.
We use mostly these. I also use borax and Dr. Bronners for many things. Some people are not cool with borax. If you do your research and decide that borax bothers you as well, you can still clean most things in your house with baking soda, vinegar and water. Dr. Bronners is a pretty cool soap that I use on myself and when cleaning the house.
Regardless of pregnancy, chemicals are nasty.
I have an all purpose spray bottle with vinegar, water, a couple drops of dish soap, and some essential oil to make it smell nice. Cleans pretty much anything. Then I keep a bottle of hydrogen peroxide around to disinfect counters and cutting boards now and then. That's about all I need.
Congratulations on your pregnancy!
Vinegar, water, baking soda, dr. bronners, occasional hydrogen peroxide, steam mop (the later two for sanitizing, as needed)
Best sound ever: baby's heartbeat! (Heard @ 10w1d)
This is pretty much what I do.
Then I use baking soda when I need to scrub something.
Bon Ami, dish soap, rubbing alcohol, and Murphy's wood cleaner are really all I use.
I use Bon Ami for bathroom fixtures and kitchen sink. I use rubbing alcohol in place of windex. And dish soap is great for mopping and general cleaning (diluted, obviously).
