Stephanie

What kind of things couldn't you eat, or you seriously had to limit? I know I should limit my carbs and beef up on proteins and veggies. What about fruit though? I'd rather eat fruit over veggies all day long but I know some of them have a lot of hidden sugars in them.

Re: Stephanie

  • My guidelines were to eat 6 times a day and to make sure that I had a protein and carb at each meal.  I did eat some fruit but not too much.  My levels were always really high during the morning, so if I had fruit I would eat it in the afternoon.  I would eat an apple and cheese for a snack. Almonds, greek yogurt, and soy joy bars were also good snacks for me.

I also ate a ton of eggs.  They were pretty much the only thing I could eat for breakfast.  I had to cut out juice, sweets, and ginger ale.  I had to limit things such as pasta and potatoes.

I will probably follow the diet if I ever am pregnant again. I found myself eating lots of veggies, and I think it did keep my weight in check.

Are they going to give you a monitor to check your blood sugar?

Not yet because I'm not actually diabetic yet, but the nutritionist is going to show me how to check my sugars if I need to later on. So no cereal for breakfast? That's about all I eat, with a banana, in the morning. I'm totally not a fan of eggs :o(

  • I am sure that there are cereals that are low carb, but since I am also gluten free I can't eat most cereal.  If I remember correctly, bananas are pretty high carb.  My sugars were really high especially in the morning, so I was very limited in the morning.  If you aren't considered diabetic, you are probably okay with more carbs than I was allowed.
