Re: B&M Monday
A girl got hit walking across the crosswalk on campus today. She was hit going at a pretty good speed, because according to people who saw it, she went airborne. My instructor (who's an RN) was at the scene when it happened and stayed with her until the paramedics came.
The man who was driving the van apparently tried to flee the scene! What a piece of crap...
That is horrible! I got goosebumps when I read that but glad you instructor was there.
Yeah, she said the girl just had some scrapes and probably a broken leg but other than that she thinks she's ok. But that was just her assessment. You never can tell.
scary! but it reminds me of something funny (in retrospect). SMU is a very small, "bubble" campus and people tend to forget that there are traffic rules and just walk out in the middle of the street. it's like a disease. we decided that my friend sarah was the lightning rod for all of the collisions the rest of us missed out on while we were there. she got hit 4 different times on campus! she was never seriously hurt, just bumps and bruises, which is why we can laugh about it now, but it was seriously weird!
Wow, I hope the girl is okay!
I almost got hit/hit people multiple times on that campus. Students just dart out wherever they feel like and cars fly down the small roads between buildings.
TCU was the same way ... in fact there was a running joke if you got hit by a car you would get free tuition. I didn't choose to find out of that was true, thankfully.
for the first couple of years after graduating, i had a real problem with just walking out into busy streets. people who hadn't gone to school with me thought i was nuts! but all my college friends confirm they had the same issue. >_<
Happy Birthday Stephanie!
I got no sleep either due to an 80lb scaredy-cat dog that insisted on sitting on top of me all night until it stopped storming around 5:00 am. My mouth is still sore and I really want these stitches out! I can't wait until Wednesday.
They're taking the stitches out?? Mine came out on their own I think...Hope you get to feeling better soon!
"...And he just came out of my imaginary birthday cake." -its apelila
The sirens are going off again
But at least I am at work with a basement! And they are moving us into it. Awesomeness!
That's scary!!!
Andrew was hit while he was crossing a crosswalk, walking into work in 2004. In fact, the guy ran a red light, speeding, and hit him. AND the guy was an airport cop in his own car. It was horrible. I hope that the girl is okay... I couldn't imagine witnessing that!

YES! That is what everyone is saying to me? How did I get so unlucky to get the the kind that have to be taken out and not the kind that dissolve? Thank you though!
Scary. I'm fine taking shelter on my own in my own house. I would be scared if I had to go down to the basement at work, though.
Lacy - I had to get my stitches taken out, too. Everyone was surprised. But, I got mine out in 2001. Not only do they do dissolving stitches now, but some dentists also give patients an amnesia pill. My best friend has no recollection what so ever about getting her's pulled out. She doesn't even remember the pain afterwards. Lucky.
an amnesia pill?? That sounds awesome! They knocked me out to cut them out, thank goodness! But I guess I had a bad dream about my dog because I woke up crying and wanted DH to text our roommate to check on my dog. LOL
I'm late to the party, but it's definitely Monday.
I'm starting to feel stressed about work, because I have a lot of projects that are supposed to be done by Friday but a couple of them just keep having kinks so they won't go away, and then I can't focus on the other things that would be easy to knock out. I feel like it's a lose-lose week. Oh, and the other 4 days this week? There won't be any real work time because of training and meetings. So awesome. Can't wait to tell my supervisors that I don't think I can finish everything
