Weed or a real plant? (newbie question)
Gardening newbie here with a question....
DH and I moved into a new townhouse in March and I've been so excited to see what the previous owners had planted. 4 of these healthy growing greens popped up but I'm beginning to think they're just weeds and not some amazing plant that will impress me.
So, are these just weeds? I want to pull them out and plant hydrangea in their place since it's a partial sun area.

Thanks in advance!

Looks like daylilies to me too.
FWIW, that space looks too narrow to put a hydrangea, anyways. Unless the perspective is weird, it looks just a little over 1ft wide & hydrangea's get like 4+ ft wide.

My MIL has a space that looks about the same as OP, and she has some beautiful hydrangea there. She's got a couple of bushes.
It's not liriope as it would be above ground all year. If this has just popped up, then liriope is definitely out.
and,
I don't doubt her bushes are lovely now, but mature hydrangeas are quite large. By the time they get too big for the space, they'll be almost impossible to dig out & transplant b/c they'll be so close to the house.
Well they've been there for 20+ years. They are very large, and they do just fine. She cuts them back each year. She's been gardening forever.
