How was everyone's Easter

Ours was nice.  On Saturday, we colored eggs and the kids had a blast. I used food coloring this year instead of a kit because we have neon food coloring and I thought the eggs would come out cool looking. It didn't work out that well. Some of the colors were splotchly and it took forever to get a good color. Lesson learned.

On Sunday the kids woke up super early, but they didn't really realize what was going on, so we were able to snuggle in bed for a while and watch Bugs Life. We didn't even go downstairs until 8 am. When they came downstairs they were so excited about their baskets and had a blast finding eggs.  They looked so cute in their easter dresses.

Re: How was everyone's Easter

  • Our Easter was pretty nice too.  We went to church in the morning and then headed to the IL's.  My family didn't have anything going on so we didn't have to eat and run, which was really nice, we were able to just hang out.  We left after a few hours, then took a nap and watched tv.  We did head to my dad's house for a while, but it there wasn't an obligation to go.  I wish all holidays were this stress-free.

  • For some reason my mom was under the impression we were going to their house for dinner up until a few weeks ago, even though it has been like 4 years since we been there on Easter Sunday. My family does a party either the Sat before or a few weeks before for Easter for all the kids. I consider that my holiday with them. So I think my mom was a little upset that we didn't come into town (not a mad upset, but more like I'll miss you upset).

When I talked to her on the phone last night, she said the kids were asking where we were and she told them that we were spending it with the other grandma and granpa, that the girls needed to spend time with them too. I was quick to point out (but did so very nicely) that wasn't the only reason why we stayed in GR - that we wanted to go to our own church, take our time with the girls, not rush to get over there and have to turn around and drive back.

I just want one holiday at OUR house. I told TH last year that if his mom didn't want to come over for dinner, then we would head over there for dessert later that night. She likes to host everything and whenever we would ask them over for dinner she would always reply with "you know you can come over here".

First of all - OMG - your girls are so cute. Adorable.

Second - Good for you on starting your own holiday tradition.  I would love to have one holiday on our own as our family grows. We need to make some changes!

Our Easter was ok. We ate lunch at my Mom's and then went straight to my GMIL's house. It all felt very rushed and I didn't really get to visit with my family all that much.

The best part was after all the festivities we all took a really late nap. 4-6ish When Henry woke up we listened to a new CD - Gwendolyn and the Good Time Gang.  He has started dancing a lot more - which basically looks like he is droppin' it like its hot.  The last song was the sweetest bed time song.  I started getting all teary eyed because Henry was just sitting really still and listening. Then he yawned.  ACCKKK. I want another baby!

  • We did egg hunt and all that in the morning. Went to a buffet for dinner and went and saw the Narnia movie at the Woodland Mall movie theatre. I love the true meaning behind that movie!

  • Adorable picture, MB!  Love the Easter dresses.

Our Easter was nice.  This is the first time ever that we've celebrated a holiday at our house with family.  My parents and brother all spent the weekend at our house.  It was a lot of fun.

Since Easter dinner was at our house this year, I got to plan the menu (no slabs of ham!).  Thus, Easter dinner was delicious.  Big Smile

That is hilarious.  Love it.  T likes to dance now too.  He just spins in circles until he falls.  It's really cute.

We had a really laid back Easter and I loved it.  We steam cleaned all of the main floor carpets and cleaned the kitchen in the morning.  And then headed to my mom's around 3:30 for Easter dinner and hanging out in the backyard, swinging, sliding, throwing a softball around...etc.

My mom lives 1 block away from where our friend was buried, so we walked to the cemetery, and brought her some flowers.  Her grave wasn't marked yet (I think they said it takes about 6 weeks and its only been about 4).  So we took a leisurely walk through the cemetery and ended up in the "new" section.  There were 5 or 6 unmarked graves and so we her brother who knew where she was buried and he described where she was.  Turns out we were practically standing on top of hers.  That was pretty sad, but it felt good to visit her and bring her some flowers.

When we got home later than night, there was an Easter basket waiting on the porch from my dad for T.

Overall it was a good Easter.
