Can You Reccomend your Digital Camera?

I am looking to purchase a new digital camera. I need one for many reasons. I use my current camera frequently (Well until it started acting up). However, our primary need is a trip to Europe that my husband and I are taking in September. Obviously, I want a great camera that I can use to capture the memories of these countries we are visiting.

* I'd like one that is dependable and takes good pictures.

* I'd prefer one that I can that I can use to automatically send my pictures to an online album. I know some advertise that they can upload to Facebook, Flickr, etc. (Ok, for an electronics dummy...how does that work exactly? Are you charged for this? Are you really able to shoot and upload without being near a computer? Sorry for the dumb question.)

 *****

Currently, my Olympic digital camera randomely eats pictures, videos, acts full after I take 2 shots. I have no idea what I may have done to it after 5.5 years to make it do this.

  • I love my Canon Powershot but I have to plug it into my Mac to upload photos.

I've had great luck with 2 Sony point-and-shoots from the Cybershot line. The first lasted 5 years before I dropped it and the lens stopped working. The second has been going strong for 3 years now. Both took pretty good pictures for being point-and-shoots, batteries lasted well, and were easy to use.

One thing to think about, since you're traveling to Europe, is what type of batteries you want. Most are rechargable ones that you need to plug in, so you'd need to get the adapter to be able to charge it in Europe. If you don't want to have to deal with that, your options as far as cameras that take AAA or AA batteries are pretty limited. They also generally eat batteries quickly, so I wouldn't normally recommend them.

The only thing I've heard of as far as auto uploads are from this special memory card, that you could put into any camera with an SD card. But, I think you still need the computer to make it upload or set it up so that it will upload. I don't think it can just find a wireless network and upload for you from anywhere. http://www.eye.fi/
