Helpful landscaping websites? Seeking simplicity!
Last year we bought a ranch-style home and it's a fixer upper. We've come a long way, but it's time time to address the yard. We have "Charlie Brown Bushes".
I would like to learn about options with explanations and photos of full-grown examples ... I really know nothing!
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
TIA
Re: Helpful landscaping websites? Seeking simplicity!
I never have good luck with general landscaping info online - answers to specific queries, yes, general inspiration or knowledge, no. I find books more helpful and your local library will have a good selection. (My dinky town of 15,000 has two entire floor to ceiling shelves on gardening.) This one, this one and this one are good basic guides. Once you get further along, a book specific to plants in your state will be invaluable and worth purchasing.
Without specific questions, I can't offer more help. If you have a low-slung ranch, you'll want to think about growing plants UP to break the horizontal visual line with some vertical lines. Ornamental trees (set an appropriate distance from the house) or junipers are good for that use.
