Has anyone planned a pub crawl for fundraising?

I am thinking about planning a pub crawl this summer as a fundraising event for a walk I am doing in August. Not sure how much work goes into it, or if it is even worth it money wise... I have been to a few before but I don't know the people that planned them so I can't ask them questions.

So has anyone ever planned one?  Was it for a fundraising event? How big of a pain was it?

Thanks!

  • I haven't done a pub crawl, but I have done fundraising events at JD's Key Club in Pontiac.  I have also done bowling fundraisers.  I made more money bowling than at JDs only because people could bring their families.

  • I have two friends who have been doing one every year for maybe the past 5 years for the 3 day walk. The first year was in Dearborn and they've both since moved to Florida and do it down there. Each year they've gotten bigger and better and raise serious cash, I want to say 5-7k.

I know for the first one they did in Deaborn, it was $30 and you got a tshirt and some raffle tickets for door prizes. They called the bars ahead of time and got them to offer drink/food specials and to donate the raffle prizes. I think as long as you can get enough participants, then bars are willing to help out.
