I planted everything over a month ago. I'm new at this, but am thinking that my spinach and beets should be much bigger by now. According to the seed packets, the spinach is supposed to be ready by May 8th. These are in the top picture, in the bottom right of the box. I'm thinking that my "giant spinach" should be much bigger by now.
The second picture on the bottom are my pitiful looking beets. These are a month along and are supposed to be ready to pick by May 13th. I'm thinking these should also be much, much bigger by now.
However, I've never gardened in my life, so I have no idea what they should look like. Are they smaller than they should be over a month from planting from seed?
Just FYI, the top box from top left clockwise is kohlrabi, buttercrunch lettuce, giant spinach, and Georgia collards.
The second box is turnip on top and beets on bottom (just part of the box is shown).
I planted tons of beets because I love them, so I'll be sad if they don't grow.
Re: Do my spinach and beets look right??
I water them very well every day.
That may be the problem. I planted them a couple weeks late. It's been pretty warm here. Will they eventually grow? Or should I just pull them up and plant some summer veggies?
That stinks
I wonder if I need to just pull up most of my spring veggies, like the collard greens and broccoli raab. Maybe even the kohlrabi and turnips. They are all still very small and it must be from the heat. I knew I was taking a risk by planting late.
