zones and planting times

I'm not supposed to plant annuals in my zone until Mother's day.

Anyone besides me going to risk it and plant early?

Re: zones and planting times

  • From what I've been told if you use a row cover or cloche you might be okay. I'm a chicken though.

Sometimes I wonder if scientists have never seen a sci-fi movie before. "Oh yes, let's create a super species of deer. NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG." I wonder if State Farm offers a Zombie Deer Attack policy. -CaliopeSpidrman
  • I always plant in May (zone 6) but only because I never have time to do it earlier. lol

  • I'll probably be waiting.  The ground is so muddy that I haven't had a chance to get it ready yet anyway.  Sad

  • See, I find the mud the best time to plant. We have some pretty hard, clay soil at my house, so if it's soaking wet, it's the only time it's workable. I've been known to water the beds before digging even when there's no plants there yet, just so I can weed and mix in a little compost.

If it's going to be above freezing at night, I'm going to plant.
