Car with rebuilt title

Has anyone ever purchased a car with a rebuilt title?  The idea of that makes me VERY nervous, but I'm sure it would be difficult to sell again. Just want to hear if anyone has had good or bad luck with such a purchase.

Re: Car with rebuilt title

  • DH's current car had a rebuilt title.  I was nervous about it too but so far so good.  DH is pretty mechanically inclined and he checked the car over as much as possible before signing the papers.
  • I wouldnt buy one with out doing extensive research on what kind of damages it had or why it was a rebuilt title. Alot of times a car can be fixed to be in working order but that doesnt mean the structual integrity of the vehicle has not been compromised. Shops these days will do anything to cut corners and they do some shady things to a vehicle that make them road worthy but not necessarily safe. IMHO with 2 kids, I wouldnt even think about buying a car with a salvage title.

  • I had a car that was a rebuilt title.  I had no problems with it at all.  I am not sure if I would risk it now that I have kids but at the time it was an excellent deal and I drove it for over 7 years.  I was not able to sell it or turn it in to a dealership because of the rebuild. GL!
