How big

How big is your patio?  H and I are looking for pavers to build a patio off of the sliding door exiting our living room.  What would be optimal dimensions?  We'd like to put some sort of patio set on it with a fireplace.  Any ideas?

TIA! :)

Re: How big

  • It's best to go to the store and measure the kind of set you're looking at.  Make sure to leave space to walk around it on all sides - inside by the firepit and around the edge of the patio.

We're looking at doing a stamped concrete patio this summer and are considering 12x15.

  • You can also get a can of spray marker and mark out the dimensions you're thinking of and walk around it a bit to see how it feels.

  • Dont know about the size....but Lowe's is supposed to be having a buy 3 get 2 free sale on some of their landscape block in the next month...Im sure they will have pavers on sale too. I'm holding out on buying mine till then...that was just a on the sly comment from one of their employees.

  • Thanks everyone for your advice.  We went with 12x12 for now, we could always expand it pretty easily if necessary I suppose.  Somehow the salesman miscalculated the amount of pavers we need and now they're sold out of the ones we need.  The good news is we're almost done and they should have more in later this week!

    Here's the results thus far!
