Hi ladies! (and gents?)

I'm not sure why I've never posted on here, but I'd like to visit more often and post more regularly!

I live in the Kawarthas in Ontario, and with my DH Matt.  We were married this year in October.  I'm in school (for the second time around) and Matt is about to start school (also for the second time around).

We live in a little apartment and have a patio with two "pet" squirrels.  We were both living in Miyagi Japan for a couple years and moved here in August.  We're both a bit lonely for friends and haven't really made any locally yet. Our closest friends are in Toronto, and it's a bit of a pain for us to get there since we have no vehicle.  Any friend-making tips?

Nice to meet you guys :)  Please tell me about yourselves if you can spare a minute.

Re: Hi ladies! (and gents?)

  • I'm from the Kawarthas, living in Burlington now.  Still don't have a lot of friends here either.

My advice for making friends, is just get involved with things you're interested in...  play a sport, go out to concerts, volunteer for a charity....

In the past the nest could have been of more help, there were more of us and we had the occassional get together.

     All the best.

I think that's the main reason we haven't met anyone.  My classes are so intense that I have no extra time for a hobby.  I volunteer for events now and then--like Doors Open Peterborough--but the only people I meet and talked to are usually my parents' age.  I think things will be better in the summer, though, when there are more concerts and such events with younger people.  That should be great!
