Different iPhone/Car question

So similarly to a lot of the people on the older iPhone/Car question thread, I have an older car that has a tape player, so I listen to my iPhone through a cord that's connected to the earpiece plug-in on the iPhone itself to the tapedeck. And this is all fine and dandy till I get a phone call and have to hurridly unplug that cord from the iPhone and plug in my earpiece so I can talk.

I'm wondering - have any of you seen a "splitter" of sorts that would enable me to have it plugged into the tapedeck and into my earpiece at the same time? The only one I've seen of the like separates out the two tracks of the stereo so you can hear one side on one of the two jacks, and the other side on the other, but it doesn't serve the purpose I want (to hear all of it through both jacks). Help?

Re: Different iPhone/Car question

  • Can you get a bluetooth headset for the phone for when you get a car? Or just not take phone calls while driving ;). I am lucky in that I have bluetooth built in to my car so whenever I do get a call I can just answer it with a one-click on the steering wheel and the audio comes out of my car speakers. But I try to limit it as talking on the phone takes up a lot of attention.
  • I've tried the bluetooth in the past, but not only has the line never really been good/clear that way, I hate those devices. I feel as though I look like some kind of alien. I much prefer the corded iPhone headset which is why I'm hoping some kind of splitter exists....

I highly recommend the Kensignton AssitOne Car connector.  The phone connects to the the connector via bluetooth.  It also is held in the connector and is charged through the ashtray plug in.

Then you can connect the stero trough the same aux cable that goes into your tape deck.  The best part is that you can just answer the phone using the bluetooth connector and the sound of the person calling comes through your car speakers.  The sound goes into the connector through it's own speaker.

ALSO... if it is just a short trip, you can even leave you phone in your purse and have it still connect via bluetooth.

My husband got one for himself and I loved it so much my mom and I both have them now. :)
