PSA: Priceline is awesome

I just made my first reservation on priceline...it's a car rental, but we saved a crapload of money.  It only uses major car rental companies and you specify the times you will be picking up.  For anyone that's traveling, I'd highly recommend it.  Has anyone else used it?  I want to know more about how their flights work.

Re: PSA: Priceline is awesome

  • I used to use it for hotels and loved it! You don't get quite the good deals as you used to, but I would imagine it's similar. The hotels work similar to the rental cars. You specify an area, a # of stars, and your price. You automatically get booked if your price is accepted. I think the airline works similarly.

  • We always use it for rental cars- love it, never had a problem! :)
  • We have used Priceline twice so far. Once for a 4-star Grand Hyatt in Tampa and then we used it last week as well and got an awesome Marriott 3-star hotel right in downtown Asheville, NC. Both times, we were very happy with the experience. We thought maybe the hotels would give us the "worst" rooms as far as views and location because they do know that you booked via Priceline, but so far, that didn't happen.

  • I've heard great things but haven't used it yet.

    How much did you save?

  • Well, the economy sized cars were $300 on expedia for the time period and we booked a full size car (I think that's a 4 car upgrade) for $172.  I think it was about a 50% off savings.  Pretty good if you ask me!
