Hi - after a year renovating the inside of our house, we're moving outside! We're working on pool landscaping first, but I have no idea what plants would do well (little shedding of leaves, petals, etc. and OK to be splashed by chlorinated water). I'm in zone 5b/6 in MA.
Our pool is a lovely free-form shape, big (20x40ish), but barren. We just put down about two feet of golden brown decorative rock abutting the concrete deck, but still have several feet (3-5) additional space before the pool fence. I'm looking for bushes primarily. Any suggestions?
Katie
Re: Plants around pool?
I think I'm looking for plants that will stay at or below the pool fence (almost 4 ft tall). I realize the pool fence is ghetto but it has to stay another year or two until we get other projects completed
I put a pic in my bio (hopefully, I'm a novice at bios). You'll see we just put new rocks around the front half of the pool. The areas I'm looking to plant in are the approx 10' x 5-6' patches to the left and right of the pool mechanics. I'll likely put something potted in front of the mechanics because I don't want roots growing into the pool pipes. Maybe something behind the diving board (also needs repair) but the area slopes down quickly and is probably better with rock. Eventually we'll plant up by the old tree circle, but not now.
