So of course the weekend we decide to come to Duluth is graduation weekend.  Is it crazy busy during graduation weekend?  Would we be wise to postpone to the following weekend?  Also, do you know how far the Sheraton is from Canal Park?  Realistically, is it in walking distance?  All the hotels in Canal Park are booked but there are rooms available at the Sheraton.  Thanks!

I called around the hotels on Canal Park and was able to get a decent rate.  It's funny that the reservations weren't available onlie but were by calling.

I used to do a lot of hotel booking at my old job and you'll find that this happens quite often!  It's weird to me too... you'd think being able to book/cancel/change reservations online would be what more places would lean towards.  If a hotel came up as sold out online, 8 out of 10 times if I called I'd be able to get reservations!

I've never noticed a big difference during graduation weekend, but it's possible we just haven't been around the places all the people would be.  I think it's a good sign that the hotel wasn't booked though, and May is really not a crazy time up here for tourists.  That doesn't start until June!
