Hey! Is that how you spell your name? It doesn't look right!
Anyway, I told my H about the sea lion thing excurion and his first response was, "Sea Lions live in the Caribbean?" LoL So then I showed him your blog. He did agree that it was awesome and then said, "Great, maybe Melissa will do it with you." (we are going with another couple) Boo! I am gonna tell my friend about it, but I know she's not gonna wanna pay the $124 a person, although I am sure it is totally worth it! Thanks anyway for the rec! Maybe one day I'll get to do it!
Re: *Meghan (MRSMEW)
Yes, that's how you spell my name! Good memory, most people misspell it.
Ah, that's a bummer your H didn't want to do it! And $124 is pretty high. It's definitely an awesome experience, but you would also want to buy the disc with the pictures on it, and I think that's an extra $30 or so. Of course you and your friend could split the cost of that, but it just adds up. It's much cheaper to just hit the beach! I'm sure you'll find something great to do!
How many ports are you going to? If you have any questions about any of the others my sister frequented, I'm happy to pass on more recs if she's got them. When is the cruise?

I did see that one, but don't know anything about it really. If I remember correctly my sister's ship did snorkeling excursions off St. John, but I don't remember anything else about it. I think if you're just looking for some time at the beach in St. Thomas, Magen's Bay is just fine. That Paradise Point Sky Ride thing would probably also be fun!
I've never been to Half Moon Cay, but my sister's ship did stop in both Grand Turk and San Juan! Let me know when you're ready for info about those because I have a lunch recommendation for you in San Juan (it was honestly one of the top 2 meals of my life), and it was my favorite port of all 9 that I visited. Grand Turk was awesome, too!
Ah, I'm jealous of your cruise! I want to tag along!

We're gonna go to Magen's Bay. I was trying to find something else to do while there, but I'm not having much luck. Maybe we'll rent some kayaks on the beach.
I'll take any ideas you have for Grand Turk and Puerto Rico, especially that great lunch idea! What are those places like? I was so surprised when we woke-up in St. Thomas and St. Martin the first time- with all of the hills. Is there anything special about RP or GT?
OMG! I was just reading a forum board on St. Thomas on Cruise Critic and I searched Magen's Bay and read this :
"There are iguanas everywhere, they are not dangerous. Like most other wildlife leave them alone and they will leave you alone. Sometimes they might walk down to the sand and might get close to people as some people feed them. I've seen them laying on beach goers towels while the person is in the water... they typically run away if you approach them closely or make a noise to shoosh them away. I've not seen iguanas on the beach at Magens but have seen them in the bushes behind the beach. Iguanas do hang out at Sapphire, so do ducks."
Laying on the beach towels?! It's a good thing that my friend who got bit last time isn't going this time! LoL
Aaaah! Iguanas on the beach towels! Too much. I didn't see any on the beach when we were there, but that freaks me out. Regardless of iguanas, I'm sure Magen's Bay will be great!
Like I said, San Juan was my favorite port. It was such a cool little town. I wouldn't even worry about planning an excursion there, just walk around and take it in. We wandered all over Old San Juan. We toured the fort (Castillo San Cristobal), walked over to the city gate and out along the water (Paseo del Morro, I think?). We also saw the Raices Fountain which was gorgeous. Everything was just so pretty, so I would just spend some time exploring. (We did all this on our own without a guide). There were also vendors set up with handmade goods in the Plaza de Colon, which isn't far from the ship. For lunch we at at the Cafe Berlin, which is right on the Plaza de Colon. It was to die for. I highly recommend the Seafood and Mofongo Fest!
In Grand Turk, we did a horseback riding excursion that was fabulous. We got to ride horses along the beach and then actually into the water, which was the coolest thing. It was something I always wanted to do so I was psyched. The port there is kind of nice, though - there's not a lot to see or do in terms of exploring or shopping, but there is a Margaritaville and a beach literally right off the dock. So there's no need to take a cab to a beach or anything like that, it's just right there. Lots of beach chairs, too, and Margaritaville right there for drinks!
Here are my blog posts about those two places, if you want to read more/see pics:
