Hi Ladies,
As you may remember, I am Polish and have been in the US for nine years on a student and later work visa. Since DH is a US citizen, we applied for my Green Card after we returned from the honeymoon. We received all the paperwork, and on Thursday we have our GC interview. I know that we have nothing to worry about, because our marriage is bona fide, but I am still getting nervous because the INS interviewers can pretty much ask you any questions they see fit. DH has been having income problems in the last three years, and only his last year had some income on the return. He owns some real estate in the south, but with the horrible housing market, the rent he charges barely pays off the mortgage. It's not uncommon these days that one of the couple would be earning less than the other. The economy sucks, and a lot of the couples have to redefine their roles, but who cares as long as you can pay your bills. Apparently, the immigration officers do and I fear any of the income related questions. I am pretty sure everything else we have prooves our marriage to be legit...
So the interview is at 7:30am on Thursday (yes, if you are an early bird, INS is the place to work at) which I find to be a secret ploy to make sure that DH is unconscious (he is NOT an early bird). I am so nervous... cross fingers and send your vibes ladies Thank you!!!!
Re: Nestie Vibes for Thursday
Good luck! I'm sure everything will go alright.
Is this an interview like at the end of the movie The Proposal? Because if it is, I'm sure you'll do better than they did.
Good luck!
The end of the Proposal is exactly what I was thinking of too...
Thank you, Ladies. I went through all of our paper work again. printed and highlighted all statements and other documents that hold both of our names.
All albums (5 of them) are ready - it's funny how many albums you can will up if you print ALL of your pictures that you have together. Close to four years of our relationship fit into 540 pictures, not counting the wedding photos.
DH keeps joking that he will take our save the date and show the officer. The picture is a little cheesy and if the office was a guy, he would understand that only a man madly in love would let his Fiance send that picture to all of his friends and family... let's hope it's a man.
Unfortunately, there are no cameras allowed in the INS building (no idea why) but maybe we will be able to snap one quickly in the waiting room with DH's phone... if we get it, i will post it
Thank you, all, so much for your good thoughts. I still have butterflies, but I guess that's normal.
