I'm looking for a pediatric urologist in ann arbor
Anyone know a good one? I'm expecting a son in June and was just told one of his kidneys is enlarged due to a blockage. I would like to be as prepared as posible and hopefully run some questions by a specialist. Tia

I do not have any recommendations for urologists in AA, but I do have to tell you my son was diagnosed the same when I was pregnant. I had multiple U/S during my pregnancy with him. One of his kidneys was enlarged and they worried there was a blockage. He did go see a Urologist after birth. He had his last check-up when he was 2 and the Urologist just told us that there is no cause for concern and that he will see him again in 2 years and after that he won't have to see him at all. So, try not to worry too much because it could all be ok. I know we were both VERY scared and worried about our son, but so far all of us U/S since he's been born have come back clearn. I really hope that the same is true for your son. Also, I did research and it's more common in boys than girls.
Also, could your OB or your pediatrician's office have a recommendation? We received the name of our urologist from our Pedi office. Ours is a St. John's doctor. HIs name is Dr. Reitelman and he's been fantastic. http://www.michiganurology.com/doctors_info/claude_reitelman_md/

Several people I know have recommended Dr. Julian Wan, out of U of M. I've only met him once, but he seems very down-to-earth and knowledgeable. Good luck with your search, and I hope that your son will be just fine!
