How is your garden going? The plants we started inside in March (tomatoes, peppers, and eggplant) are HUGE, they really need to go in the ground. I call them our "forest" Using a seed heating mat apparently made a huge difference, we've never had such healthy seedlings.
The spring outdoor crops are finally starting to grow after several weeks of cold, wet weather. The pea plants are about 5" tall, and the spinach, beets, kale, and arugula finally have some true leaves. The herbs we planted last week have recovered from their transplant shock.
We're going to plant the summer crop and more herbs on Saturday. I just need to nag DH some more to build the cucumber trellis. What's everyone else up to in their gardens?
Re: How is your garden going?
Not as well as yours! I just got my garden in last weekend, so everything is still small. I don't have a lot this year, but some different types of squash, red peppers, green beans, and herbs.
I really want to try to do seedlings next time, but I need to read more about it.

My poor potted blueberries still look like they are in shock. One has started coming back finally, but we have had lots of cold and rainy weather.
My swiss chard is looking good. The carrots are clearly taking root. The first set of peas are 5-7 inches tall depending upon the type. The rutabegga has come up. I need to thin the lettuce. The spinach seems to be having a slow start.
Hi! (I'm new to the board and am excited to see other gardeners.)
We're growing different varieties of beans and peas, romaine, a few kinds of peppers, several varieties of tomatoes, broccoli, blueberries, raspberries, squash, zuc., and an herb garden. This are growing fast here, but we've had really warm weather.
I have some herbs growing inside, but I haven't planted anything outdoors yet.
I killed everything last year, and I've been so busy with work that I just haven't been motivated.
It really makes me sad...I was hoping to do more growing and canning this summer. I am still hoping to find some u-pick places and achieve the second goal, though.
This is where we're at too. I want to start hardening our plants, but the weather is simply not cooperating. With all of the rain we're getting, our little sprouts would be broken or washed away.
We just harvested our first 2 cherry tomatoes! Green beans are growing and can probably harvest a few this weekend. We have some chard, but I think it's too close to the tomato bushes and getting overshadowed.
Oh, and there's some sort of volunteer seed growing... maybe a zucchini, yellow squash or pumpkin? Some sort of squash, it'll be a surprise!
