My "best friend" is a flake, we'll call her K. She's also a single mom, so I usually let it slide. She's very self centered and wants it her way or the highway, but when you're doing something with her she's so insistent that you have a good time that she ends up not having a good time herself. Its a very weird combination, but I've grown to accept it.
We got NKOTBSB tickets the day that they were on sale. I got amazing seats too. She and I and her brother's girlfriend (we'll call her C) were supposed to all be going together. This was a bone of contention to begin with because I didn't know C at all and she and K's brother hadn't been dating long, but I went along with it because I figured if she dropped out it would be NBD in the long run.
FF to Easter and K has a HUGE immature high school like dramafest with her brother and C. I was not a part of this dramafest at all, but yet brother and C both unfriended me on FB and K uninvited C to NKOTBSB. No harm to me though, I never really liked C to begin with, but was friendly with her because of K and her brother. I wanted to talk to K's brother and have a come to Jesus meeting with him about the unfriending thing because we've been friends for 3 years, but I didn't because I didn't want to get in the middle of the dramafest.
FF to today and I get this text from K: I may not be able to get off for NKOTBSB
Um, What? Are you freaking kidding me? She's known about this for months and she just put in for time off today. I've paid in full for the tickets, she's paid in full for the hotel room and her boss was not sympathetic at all. K is a preschool teacher and 3 other teachers have already asked for that day off and the director does not want half of her staff off in one day even if K can get a sub. I completely understand where the director is coming from. The more and more I thought about it, the more I got pissed at K because she knew about this trip before she even took the job. She shouldve mentioned it at her freaking interview!!
Now I dont know what to do. She wants me to let her feel it out at work for the next couple of days and see if she can find a way get it off. I want to say too bad and offer the tickets to my friends on one hand, OTOH I know she and I have planned this for a while and if she can get it off it would be awesome. BUT, in the back of mind Im tired of her crap and I almost feel like writing her off completely.
Ugh. WWYD?
Re: Im Pissed! re: NKOTBSB
You're right: Your friend is a flake. I'd start asking around now to get the other tickets replaced.
She should've asked for the time off earlier. Hell, my boss knows my vacation plans for the rest of the year.
