I've got a sofa that belonged to my great-great-aunt which had seen better days. The fabric had clearly been chosen by an elderly woman. And, my disobedient dog, who is not allowed on the sofa and won't go near it when we're home, was obviously lolling around on it all day when we're at work, further damaging the upholstery.
After years of talking about it, I finally spent some tax refund money getting it reupholstered. I used Yi's Upholstery in Rockville, and they did a great job. Great service and communication, and pretty fast turnaround too.
Price-wise, it came in under what I had expected to pay. However, upholstery is certainly not budget friendly. I could have bought probably more than one new couch for what I paid. But, since this was an antique family piece that I love, the investment was worth it to me.
