Question about having clothes altered (+ West Side rec)

Has anyone paid a tailor to have clothes taken in?  Pants especially?  I'm faced with the positive problem that most of my pants are too big now, and cinching them with belts is getting annoying.  (I'm referring to dress pants that I wear for work, if it matters.)  Is it possible to have them taken in without making them all wonky?  And if so, does anyone have a rec for a good tailor on the west side (Westland, Livonia, Canton, Northville, Dearborn areas, etc)?  Any idea what it might cost?  I would want someone who does a good job, so I'm willing to pay for it, but if it's going to cost $40 per pair then I'll just buy some new stuff over time, KWIM?  Any advice?

TIA!

Re: Question about having clothes altered (+ West Side rec)

  • I go to Anna's Alterations in Novi (10 Mile/Meadowbrook).  I think RKelly recommended this place a while ago.  She does a great job.  I think I paid $20 to have a dress taken in and cups added a couple months ago.  Seems very reasonable to me.
