what insect is attacking my black beauty watermelon leaves?
I have several different plants going in the garden right now, but there is something that has honed in on the melon leaves. They are on the backs of the leaves only, and look to be small black (maybe dark green) eggs? The ants are going nuts, crawling all over the leaves trying to eat (??) the black egg type things.
They haven't gone onto any other plant, even though they are very close in proximity. I have used a soap based insecticide, but I can't tell, yet, if it's helping.
Anyone else grow melons and have experience w/ this?

Here's a link to the Integrated Pest Management page of the Missouri Botanical Garden. If you can't find the specific pest, you can e-mail them and a horticulturist will help you.
