One of the things I love most about Michigan is...
...that liquor stores are called party stores. The name is so festive and gets me in a good mood when I say it.
Please feel free to list your own!
Re: One of the things I love most about Michigan is...
LOL!
I love being able to show people on my hand where I live
This one is a great one! When we were in Vermont at the maple syrup farm, the owner asked where in Michigan we were from...it's so nice to bust out your hand and point. Haha. Then she pointed out where her daughter lived
I never even thought about this! but you're right, "party store" is a funner name than "liquor store".
This makes me excited for the farmer's market!!
Are they not called party stores in other states? I had no idea! Thanks for adding a wrinkle.
I love the scenery of Michigan. From the summer beaches to the autumn forests to the wintery landscapes and to the Spring flowers coming into bloom - it really is a beautiful state. :-)
Hands down the beauty of the state.
Yeah in MA they are called Packages Store (or "The Packy" ).
Definitely not in Milwaukee or Chicago. People were confused when I would talk about party stores.
This thread makes me swell with Michigander pride.
Nope - out here party stores are more like party supply/decoration stores.
When I moved to Big Rapids and saw all the party stores, I wondered why such a small town would have so many stores for party decorations. Then I found out that they sell the true party supply (alcohol).
I like the summers at the lake - that the towns have 'old/historical' section.
I like the pretty fall colors and the crisp air.
