for those of us who judge shatty names...
Re: for those of us who judge shatty names...
Funny, thanks for sharing! I also mostly agree, except with Jackson/Jack. I've always really liked Jack, but it's H's cousin's kid's name, and his uncle is Jackson/Jack as well. And of course now BabyQ!
I love how on the boy's names, the first 5 or so are all the -en names, which also drive me bananas.
Oh, I have a good one! My sister's SIL/BIL named their baby Dutch Wilson, so I was like, who loves Ronald Reagan? My sister, of course, didn't catch the reference, but it's his nickname and middle name. BUT, these dummies had no idea!
Married / The Cookaholic Wife
Oh, and I remembered a name story today while at my conference (in child support, we often tell 'worst name' stories at lunch). It's also a cringing at what I say to my boss story...
We were chatting at work about this mother named River. Caseworker says she changed it from Krystal. I comment that anyone who names their daughter Krystal with a K is just asking for her to go on the pole. Boss says his niece is a Krystal with a K.
Luckily he is awesome and just laughed it off.

Haha mush, that's great.
I think it's impossible to come up with a name that a subpopulation of people won't hate, so I get that it's tough. Especially since a lot of things are purely personal - like some names get overused in certain regions but not others, or you connect a name with a particular person you once knew. But stupid misspellings are always stupid, and look uneducated to me.
FWIW, I didn't start hating the name Jackson until watching Hannah Montana. Now I always hear her annoying voice saying the name, so it's pretty much ruined.
Some of those names I actually like. Maybe not actually name my child them but don't find them awful I did really like mackenzie for a while.
I never thought naming a child would be so hard. Now that I actually have to come up with a name for another person I am so scared. I mean this is someones name that they will have to live with forever. I am really starting to over think this naming thing.
If more people thought like this, we'd have less awful names.
The Princess of Anything is Coming!
Had a dream I was queen.
Woke up. Still queen.
LOL, I know! It reminds me of Destiny (or did she spell it Destiney?) from Rock of Love (Bret Michaels). Her stripper name was Stephanie. Um, ur doin it rong.
One name that a friend came up with for her son, Dioveae. Um, yeah, try figuring that one out.
From that list though, I agree with some of the boys & girls names. H and I haven't even discussed names for any future kids, although we both know we don't want to choose anything that could be easily ridiculed or just sounds cute when the kid is a baby but not for a grown adult.
IUI #1 10/12/11 (Bravelle + HCG + Prometrium & acupuncture) = 10/26 BFP! Beta #1=250, Beta #2= 615. 1st u/s 11/8.
Same.
hahahhahaha
So...my cousin, bless her heart, just named her new born son Jayden. It's on that list. Not so bad right? Except I've been scorning the name Jayden for the last couple weeks cause my cousin has a daughter too - named JADE.
That's right...Jade and Jayden. She basically named her son after her daughter. So much for originality. My cousin is usually pretty brilliant. I have no idea how that happened.

I know a girl who named her twin boys Jayden and Jaylen :-/
Im not a trendy name fan at all! Which is crappy because 3 years ago when I named E the name was like 250 on the list and now it's creeping into the 50s :-( I still love the name and could never imagine her with another.
If you guys want a good naming laugh head over to the bump baby names board. I love it over there and if you comeover with a stripper name you will get a ration of shiz and it's awesome!
Crickey...why do people DO that?

Clearly (despite my niece's obsession) I did not have enough exposure to Hannah montana or we never would have chosen that name for BabyQ. And K wanted to spell it Jaxon and I vetoed that (ewwww).
I ditto Xtine's comments though...it seems so easy to pick out a name, until you actually HAVE to do it. Oh, Gawd, the PRESSURE!!!
I am SO glad you won in that argument - Jaxon makes me cringe. The name 'Jackson' really is ok, I can't blame people for not having the same weird hang-ups as me. It's more of a 'this is why I would never name my kid Jackson' kind of thing, if that makes sense. Like I think the name Gregory is a fine name, but I think of a) Jeff's a-hole boss, and b) Dr. House, so I wouldn't use it.
