Dogs and cat food... how do I make it stop?
Another question.... how do I get my dog to stop eating the cats food. The second she is out of our site she eats their food. I have been picking up the cats food, but they are used to being able to eat whenever they want. Any training tips... or do the cats just need to get used to it?
TIA!
Re: Dogs and cat food... how do I make it stop?
Our cat food is in a room with a cat door on it so the dog can't get to it. If it were out in the open Brady would definitely have a feast. I have no training tips, but would suggest just putting it where the dog can't reach.
My father puts their cat's food on a side table in the dining room. The cat can jump up there to eat but the dogs can't reach. Maybe, if you don't have another room, something like that might work?
When we had our dog, he always ate out of the cat bowls (and the litter box).
So the baby gate doubled as a dog gate so the dog couldn't get downstairs (we live in a split) but the cats had no problem going up or down. So maybe you can put the cat bowls just out of the dogs reach??
