Catfish?

Has anyone seen this movie?  It's documentary/independent film about a guy who develops an online friendship with a little girl and her family.

I thought it was really good/interesting.  DH and I talked afterwards about me on TK/TN and wondering if you're all who you say you are!

Here's some info (warning, it gives away details from the movie)

I had not heard of this movie until yesterday.  So it's funny that you brought it up today.

Ha, isn't it funny when things like that happen?

I had not heard of the movie. But after reading about it and watching the trailer it looks pretty interesting. I'll have to see if I can rent it on apple tv and watch it tonight since Dave's off working.

Sooo...I clicked on the link and it took me to a Wikipedia page about actual catfish, the types, anatomy, etc., and not to info about the movie.  I'm curious about the movie.  It sounds good!

Haha!  When I originally saw the title of this post this morning, I was all prepared to come in and post pictures of the catfish from my dad's pond (because they are amazingly huge!).  I was totally thrown off when I saw it was about a movie!

LOL, me too! I am curious about the movie, I will have to go google it.

When I saw this post it made me think of a lady that I worked with (she just retired) and we called her "catfish" because she had a beard and it looked like the whiskers that catfish have. So I had a personal LOL moment.

  • I saw the movie and was so excited about it...

But we were disappointed...a little predictable after the first 20 minutes.

I found it really interesting, maybe b/c of TK & TN.  DH was sooooo disappointed in the ending.  He said it was a waste of a movie.  A bit anti-climatic, I'll agree, but interesting.

Megan- that's too funny!  and others; sorry I put the wrong link!

I dunno I liked it. I mean you really see this woman who clearly (as artistic as she is) is a pathological liar. On top of probably being schizophrenic and having some sort of social disorder. And then you're introduced to her sons which is horribly sad. I didn't view the movie as a "guy meets girl online, finds out its just some older woman, goes to see her, and is let down" I viewed it as "Guy stumbles into this womans lies, goes to call her out on it, and you're introduced to this very fragile state-of-mind woman and her world"

It was sad, and really interesting to learn about someone who lives like this.

I totally agree.  Plus I thought it was a nice change from your "typical" movies.  I'm glad you and Papa liked it!!
