Those of you who have taken Wilton Cake Decorating Course
Can you tell me a bit about it? My SIL called and asked if I wanted to do this with her next month and I thought it might be fun. I have wanted to try it out but never made time because of the kids. I remember Molly and her awesome cake class creations and I think a few others of you have as well.
My SIL told me the course was about $30 but I called Michaels and they told me tuition was like $7 but the kit you have to buy is about $40 so more like a $50 course. Does that pricing sound right? Also what do you get in the kit? Do you have to buy it? Do you also make your own cake and icing for each class?
I'd love any info you are willing to pass on. Thanks!
Re: Those of you who have taken Wilton Cake Decorating Course
I had a blast! I plan on taking the fondant course soon
Here is some info:
The class is cheap, maybe $14 (or $7, whatever they told you) but yes, you do have to buy supplies/kit. But you can use those fabulous 40% off one item coupons! So I went back one or two times to get what I needed using coupons, much cheaper. I would say $30 total(ish).
The kit, if I remember correctly, is the book/course guide, tips, bags, etc. You will see what you REALLY need once you get in the class. The suggested list for supplies is enormous and ridiculous. All you really need are tips, color gel, bags, etc. You'll hear all about that on the first day.
Yes, you make a cake and icing for each class. For example, my class was on a Monday night so on Sunday I would make my cake and icing. Then I was ready to roll. The actual decorating takes place in the class, so you have to come prepared with the cake ready and frosted.
What other questions do you have? I need to jog my memory a bit to remember what all they entailed, but ask away!
