so I met DH for lunch yesterday, he had to get measured for his tux for the wedding we are in in a few weeks.

while there, we get a voicemail from his mother -- BIL decided not to go to his graduation.

thats fine, we are okay with it, its 4 hours away - but considering his dad and step mom are driving up 10 hours, he probably should've told them sooner.  they cant cancel their hotel, they used points - so they stayed there last night and are coming to see us today.

sometimes I just don't get DHs family.

Yeah, somehow the same parents can produce very different children. Don't know how that happens. I mean, my SIS and I have different personalities, but we're both responsible professionals. Her probably more than me, even.

You know, I was just thinking about how Nate is starting to outgrow the baby stage of only thinking of himself (I forget what we called it in psych class). He brought me his favorite bath toy while I was in the shower this morning - how thoughtful! Seems like some people never really make the next stage of development.
