Mother's Day Recaps here!
How did you all celebrate Mother's Day??!!
Re: Mother's Day Recaps here!
I got up with Taylor even though I told Chris he was doing it (I just couldn't go back to sleep). I got her fed and he came downstairs. I sent him to the store for some cinnamon rolls and the paper for the coupons. Then after Taylor played, I put her down for a nap and we folded laundry. Then Taylor woke up right before lunch so I fed her and me and I watched Eclipse (it wasn't nearly as good as I had hoped). Put her back down for a nap, ate some supper, and Taylor woke up. She played some more, then we went upstairs and I cleaned my office. Gave Taylor a bath and put her to bed. Now I'm headed to bed because Monday comes way too fast! lol....so much for not lifting a finger today!
Yesterday though, my mom came down. We went to Longfellow's and I spent too much moeny as usual! I got myself a new pot and some geraniums I thought were really pretty. Mom and I went to Rooster's for lunch (it was sooo freakin yummy!) and then we came back and watched Taylor play.
Time for bed! night!
I love today.....I usually do, even before I came a Mom....... We cooked an amazing breakfast at my Mom's. Breakfast of french toast, eggs, and bacon. Love! And then spent two hours in her garden. Weeded, planted, mulched, and bordered her annual bed.
We came home and did lots of yard work here. Tim mowed the lawn for the first time in his life. Yes, first time. My deal for today was that he did everything around the house. Laundry, dishes, etc. I got my wish and I even offered to fold the diaper load. Heavenly! He also surprised me with a super gift. I've been saying that I am going to get a new bag to celebrate a new job. Well, since that hasn't happened yet, I was shocked to open a new Coach tote. Seriously am loving this guy right now.....he was gone for a week and it seemed like an eternity! I'm so glad he's back!!
I got to go for a run without the stroller. That was a treat! DH had to work at 11:30...so that was it. I guess it was a carb day... a slice of homemade toast with cinnamon sugar and fruit for breakfast; homemade veggie pizza for lunch; eggplant parm for dinner. Chocolate chip cookies for dessert. Only, it was all made by me instead my chef of a husband. Oh well. Other than that, I bought some plants, did some gardening, cleaned the farmer's porch and had lunch out there, picked flowers to place around the house and had lots of quality time with Adrian.
DH always stresses about getting me something, but I keep telling him I'm really not into needing anything tangible. The best present was Friday when we had a family day picnic at York Harbor. (I blogged about it...and there's pictures). Time with family is best.
I had a wonderful Mother's Day and it's been kind of extended by circumstance!
Thursday I went out to lunch with MIL and peanut and got DD shoes. So, no cooking that night.
Friday - we went out to dinner with IL's, no cooking that day!
Sat - MY Mother's Day. We went to May Day in Kennebunk and strolled around etc. Then we headed to Two Lights and enjoyed a lobster roll and hanging out with my little family. Blogged it yesterday.
Today - last night DH slept on the couch so that only he would hear the monitor
I slept great! I woke up as he was going upstairs to get Caroline, but it was nice to be able to stretch and relax in bed for a little. Rest of the morning/afternoon we just did some things around the house. Then, we went to DH's Aunt's house for that BBQ :P Glad we went. We found pictures of when they came to visit after Caroline was born. Thought they were gone forever so very happy.
Tonight - DH is doing laundry and I'm chilling. I got a birch tree (I got a weeping cherry tree last year) so DH is joking he's going to get me a tree a year. I'll beat him, although I'm happy with them. Card, tulips, candy, but most important I got quality family time!
I slept in until 8:30 (after being awake until 2 am last night frosting a caterpillar cake). I put out frozen Trader Joe's croissants last night so DH baked those for me when he got up with DD this morning and I had a fresh croissant for breakfast. After that I cleaned up a bit and finished preparations for DD's birthday party today.
DD got me flowers. She picked out the best bouquet at Walmart! Apparently when DH took her there yesterday she had to smell every single one before she would pick one for me.
Now I just have to keep my stupid cat from eating them.
Helen's party went well. We had 9 adults (me, DH, both sets of parents, DH's brother, SIL, and sister) and Helen here for the party and we just barely fit in the house. She got lots of presents and attention. Her most favorite present from me and DH was a motorcycle jacket and a Step2 ride-on motorcycle.
For dinner we ate Kraft homestyle mac-n-cheese and party food leftovers.
Overall, the day was about 1% about me, 4% about taking care of my parents (who are in town for the week) and 95% about Helen. Tomorrow night we're going to go out to dinner to make up the lack of quality mom time today.
The boys spent the time at ILs so I got to sleep in (until 830!!!) and then DH went to go pick them up. When they got home, they brought in my gift, a Kindle! After that hoopla, we went out to play with Casey and Adrian before Casey headed back to CT. We had lunch and the boys went down for a nap... so I did too!
After our nap, we went to Hodgeman's for custard, stopped at Panera for dinner on the way home and the boys went to bed. After they went to bed, I went grocery shopping and now we are watched HP7P1!
I had a delightful weekend!
Yesterday we went to the Farmer's Market and bought herb starter plants, fiddleheads, and local bacon. We ran into some folks from daycare, danced to an accordian guy and a folk band, and hula hooped. Then we played on the playground. I cleaned, did laundry, bought groceries, and other chores, including cooking yummy crusted fried chicken and sauteed fiddleheads. Topped it off with some Mad Men from Netflix.
Then today, after James slept through the night (a growing trend- thank goodness) I got to lounge in bed an extra 45 minutes (after a quick snuggle with the little one in bed) while DH took care of James, then showered leisurely right away, and came down and "demanded" breakfast. DH cooked delicious market bacon, eggs with chives, and the berries I bought the previous day. I got 2 nice cards at my place. Skyped with my mom, then James was ready for a nap, so DH & I hung around enjoying the sunshine. I did a little dancing in the backyard!
Once James finally got up after his 3.5 hour nap, we ate and then went to Smiling Hill Farms, where he was mildly into the animals, a little more into the climbing things, and then finally into the ice cream. I got my Mother's Day sundae. The evening was topped off my a James bath, sitting around, then cooked yummy crab-stuffed haddock and faux roquefort pear salad. Now I'm watching TV and getting ready to go to bed in nice clean sheets that DH changed.
It was a very nice weekend where I was spoiled.
Happy Mother's Day, mamas!
I had to work this morning but this afternoon, my dad and I took my mom and grandmother out to dinner at the Olive Garden. It may not be fine cuisine but I have a weakness for that place! After dinner I went over to Matt's house to hang out with him and the little dude.
Tonight I got to participate in my first toddler bedtime, which goes something like: grown-ups lie on the floor pretending to sleep till the 2 year old actually falls asleep, because if we don't, he will get out of bed repeatedly and not get to sleep at a decent hour. It may sound silly but I was kind of touched. I got toddler hugs and got to help with bedtime - definitely heart warming!
I got to sleep until 11!!! (After feeding Ellie four times between 4:30 and 8 a.m. and being woken up by Owen at 6:30) My parents are here, so I went downstairs to find them playing with the kids and MH in the kitchen cooking up a storm. Owen ran to me, handed me a bouquet of flowers, and said "HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! HAPPY MOMMY!" That right there would've been enough...but I also got to eat chocolate ebelskivers, a delicious veggie scramble, sausages, bacon, and fruit, and drink several mimosas and a very large cup of coffee. Then I sat around for a while watching the Food Network and This Old House while the kids napped, and shortly after we all got ready and headed out to dinner at the Border Cafe with my sister and her family. We capped it off with a walking tour of a very cool MIT light installation program -- they had colored lights on the Mass Ave bridge that changed when pedestrians and cars went over it, floating lights in the river, projected light shows on walls, etc. etc. It was very cool.
All in all, I had a fantastic day.
Oh, and MH is getting me a sewing machine!! Hooray!
I am jealous of all you ladies who got to sleep in. None the less, I still made the most of the day.
DH worked all weekend, but when I went to feed the boys breakfast, I noticed 2 cards on the table. My first "Great Mama" card (seriously it teared me up for some reason), and a wonderful wife card with a I-tunes card (perfect since I Haven't updated my ipod in over a year
). The boys and I packed up and went to visit my dad and gram. Then the boys took an extra long nap yesterday (Bonus) and I got to snooze as well for about 1/2 hour.
Otherwise it was running errands and cleaning the house.
Happy Belated Mothers Day ladies.
DH had to work this weekend, so there was no sleeping in for me! As I wrote on FB, Eli woke up saying "Happy Mudder's Day! I have my birthday cake now?" It was so darn cute. I also discovered a card for me on the table at breakfast time. Apparently Eli even picked it out himself- it had cookie monster on it, which is why he was drawn to it, but it happened to be a "from your son" card, so it worked out!
After breakfast we went to Portland and played at Deering Oaks playground, then went to Trader Joe's. I was able to get a lot done and also relax during Eli's nap, which was great. After his nap with played in the play tent in his room and it was so fun. He likes to go in and out, bring books in, then lay down really fast and say "Let's cuddle!" He even said "I love you very much Mumma" out of the blue. Made my day! We were supposed to go for a bike ride after, but we got rained out, so we made a cake instead! My parents brought over Chinese food for dinner. Once DH got home he took over bath/bed time, then we ate more cake and ice cream and watched the Amazing Race finale.
Happy (belated) Mother's Day, all!
Although I'm not technically a Momma yet, my Mum and I spent the whole weekend celebrating our awesomeness! Saturday, we went for a helicopter tour (finally!), took a stroll around BRU and the party supply store to get inspiration for the baby shower. After that, we headed to the beach snack bar for their opening and twin lobster rolls (!!!) which we took to go, drove out on Ocean Drive and parked the car by the water to enjoy our lobi.
Sunday we woke up late, lounged around and had an incredible brunch down at our favorite spot, Zelda's. We walked around town, went to the antique armory and looked at some more baby boutiques before she had to head back home.
All in all a perfect weekend w/ Momma!

I was awoken by Ridley by my side of the bed with a handmade card. SO CUTE! We got up, had apple cider donuts for breakfast and went to Strabucks for my Venti Nonfat Cocoa Cappuccino. Then I was taken to Day's Jewelers where I picked out a new charm for my Pandora bracelet and headed to Shaw's where I picked out a hanging plant for the front of the house.
Next up was MIL's house, which was a nice, short visit.
Then we headed to the Maine Mall so that I could get sized for a new bra at Victoria's Secret, which I LOVE. I am going to have to get it in every color now. Good bras are hard to find. We also headed over to Target so that I could replace my magnifying mirror, which recently bit the dust. I also got a new lip shine and pair of shoes.
We met my sister and her family at the Salt Water Grille in South Portland for their Mother's Day Buffet, where I had two Grey Goose cosmos. Heavenly! Then we drove down to Pine Point so that my sister could show us the house that they just bought (literally a block from the ocean). We finished off the day with a free ice cream cone at Len Libby's.
Yeah, it was like a second birthday and I loved every second of it!
I know i'm not a momma yet either, but as a Momma to be I had a pretty good day
MH let me sleep in a little bit and took care of the dogs for me so they wouldn't wake me up... we went out for breakfast, went out to my mommy's for a little bit to bring her gift, and visit for a while, We went to go visit his mom but she was working, so we went to visit her at work, we went to Lowes and got all the seeds to plant our garden, MH told me what he bought me for mother's day - He got me a glider/rocker for the baby's room, it just won't be here for another week or so...
The rest of the day we just relaxed and hung out at home
