So, the recipe I used on Friday was this one:
http://www.dailygarnish.com/recipes?recipe_id=6000060&prev_term=grill
I loved the flavor of them. I baked them for 30 minutes and Andy finished them on the grill for about 5 minutes. They don't get as firm though as other ones I have tried so they kind of squish out when you're eating them. But super tasty.
Last year I tried these, and I will try again:

If I remember correctly, these were more firm and tasty too.
Let me know if you find a winning recipe! :-)
Re: Hoektastic - Black Bean Burgs
Thanks for the update! The allrecipes.com recipe is the one I have saved to try. I just need to make some breadcrumbs, or buy, whatever. But I am intrigued by the spices in the Daily Garnish recipe.
I'll keep you posted if I come across anything good!

These sound delicious. I want to try them.
Just curious, what kind of topping do you usually use with black bean burgers? Standard burger toppings/condiments?
I've never made them at home - just used the frozen Morningstar ones. I like them with sliced avocado, red onion, hot sauce.
Though if i made them from scratch, I would like to try them with standard burger toppings. Maybe I would try sauteed mushrooms and onions.
We do standard burger toppings. Some kind of green (lettuce, spinach, romaine) and tomato, brown mustard, a little ketchup. Andy usually adds cheese. :-)
I usually go with guac and salsa and some lettuce just to keep with the south of the border theme. I've also chipotle mayo on them before and it was HEAVEN.
Definitely will have to give these a whirl sometime, they sound excellent!
