I'm more of a lurker here than a poster...but was wondering if any of you ladies have a rec for an acupuncturist?
My husband and I are struggling with infertility, and I've heard positive things about doing acupuncture. I have PCOS, so I don't ovulate on my own. I'm taking Clomid, but am starting to look into other things I can do to increase my chances of success.
I would prefer something in the Southeast Metro (Woodbury, IGH, Eagan, etc), but am not opposed to driving to other places.

Re: Acupuncture Recs?
I've been going to 3 Treasures community acupuncture in Minneapolis since last August for excruciating menstrual cramps (I didn't have to go last month, yay!). It took me a couple sessions to really relax and feel comfortable but now I love it. It's community acupuncture so there are about 12 recliners set up in one large room. It sounds strange but it's actually comfortable - the lights are off and they have music playing. They use points on your legs, arms and head so you don't have to undress. http://treasures3.com/
I went to Andy at Woodwinds Natural Care Center in Woodbury a couple years ago. http://www.nwhealth.edu/woodwinds/index.html I dreaded going there. Everyone was nice but it was a very clinical experience compared to 3 Treasures. I hated that I basically had to undress because they use points all over the body.

Do they poke you while you're sitting there or do they do that privately and then you go and relax in a recliner? I'm intrigued by this idea. I've never tried it but I think I could benefit from it... Hmmm.
They poke you while you're sitting there. Believe me, you don't want to have to move after they get them in. I moved my foot with one in and holy pain. I could feel it all the way up my leg. The ones in the fatty areas like arms and legs don't hurt but the ones in the feet and hands where there isn't much padding must be close to nerves or something.
I was nervous and self conscious about it the first couple times but then I realized it's not a big deal. The chairs are spread far enough apart so you're not on top of each other. You talk softly before they start putting the needles in so nobody knows what you're doing. Opening your eyes and looking around gets the acupuncturists to come over and check on you so most people just keep them shut or look at the ceiling or out the windows.
I've read that doing it in a group setting is supposed to improve results because of the energy flowing through the room. I don't know, it's all kind of mystical to me but it works so who am I to question it?
FYI... I found out about this place from a client who goes there for help with anxiety and depression. Between that and diet changes, she's off her medication.

If it works and no puppies or rainbows are harmed in the process, then why not? :-) And YAY to the 2nd part. I want to avoid medication if possible. So far, even in the week since I've seen Dr. C. I feel better. I needed a good kick in the pants. I was wallowing and that is never a good thing for me.
I'm glad you're feeling better. You don't have to explain the wallowing thing to me. I'm the same way and this cold rainy weather isn't helping. I have another appointment with Dr. C on Thursday. I'm convinced my thyroid problem is really my adrenals. He suspected it a couple times ago but I didn't do the test because my insurance won't cover it. I'm so tired of going through this roller coaster of feeling good for a while and then feeling like crap, increasing meds, feeling good, feeling like crap.... I just need to get stuff figured out once and for all even if it ends up being $$. I wish there was some sort of support group for this stuff.
(P.S. sorry original poster to hijack your post)

My husband and I both used Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Center in Edina when we were trying to conceive. Dr. Zhuo is very attention to detail and really cares about you as an individual case.
I had a successful IVF cycle while receiving acupuncture and my husband's sperm count increased from treatment (but not enough to not need help conceiving).
