Tree Blocks

This is reposted from my facebook wall:

One of my planned projects is to make tree blocks for Neena. I need the wood to make them though. Does aybody in the DSM area have or know of anybody who can hook me up with some tree prunings with a small diameter? See pic for example of size. I will do all of the sawing, so I'll take big pieces. :-)

If you don't have any luck finding already cut trees, we have some rogue (maple?) trees growing along our creekbed that you're welcome to if you want to cut them down yourself. One is about 20' tall and 6" at the thickest diameter. with quite a bit of it being at least 4' diameter. There are another couple just smaller than that.

Not the greenest solution, I know, but there's plenty of vegetation back there and it grows pretty fast. :)

  • I might take you up on that! I'll let you know soon. Thanks!

  • I'm going outside with the girls now. I'll see what all we have. The neighbors just took out a bunch of trees too. I'll see what I find in their pile.

  • There are some in a pile that I think could work. The neighbors have an entire skinny tree that they took out laying near our burn pile too. You're obviously welcome to any of it. The biggest are probably 6 inches in diameter and there are plenty that are smaller than that. The only thing is that most of them don't have bark because the deer like to rub it off. I can FB my address to you if you'd like. We wouldn't even need to be home when you come, as the pile is in the lot just south of our house and you'd see it right away. If we are home I'd be happy to help you load them up too though. They're good sizes for hauling away. Nothing too monstrous.
