Going rate for Lawn Mowing

DH and I are looking to hire someone to mow our lawn this summer. Either a neighbor or a service. Does anyone know the going rate? Is it per lawn or per hour?

Recommendations for a service would be greatly appreciated as well. We're in South Minneapolis.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Going rate for Lawn Mowing

  • Depending on the size of your lawn, I'd hire a neighbor kid for maybe $25. I haven't had to mow a lawn in quite a few years, so I could be unrealistic. I think any teenager would be happy to get $25.

  • When we bought our house, the previous owners told us at the closing that they always hired the high-school-age neighbor kid to mow the lawn for them and they paid him $25 each time. That was about 1.5 years ago, so the rate is probably still reasonable. We haven't hired the neighbor, we just mow the lawn ourselves.
