Best Auto Insurance?

I have Mercury insurance and have been told by many that I am paying too much. I've had Mercury since I started driving and never bothered to look elsewhere. I got into a fender bender last month and was informed that even though I am paying a lot of money (despite my good driver discount), I am not covered for collision!

Who do you have? Are you happy? Who can you recommend?

Re: Best Auto Insurance?

  • We have State Farm and are very happy with their claims dept. However, what I've learned is that price is dependent on many factors. I recommend getting quotes from different reputable carriers with great claims depts, such as AllState, Farrners, AAA, 21st Century - just to name a few. State Farm was the least expensive for us, but it might not be the same for you. Also, I don't think Mercury is a bad company. Maybe you're just underinsured. The limits that are required by law doesn't cover much. I don't have time to go over basics of auto insurance, but maybe you need to increase your coverage. Increasing coverage is usually just a few dollars more.
  • Get quotes from Wawanesa or Safeco.
