I've seen similar at Ikea. But of course they were called something unintelligible and had confusing sketches for instructions.

Oh, that's very different, as those are designed to keep the material inside. These things are mesh. They let water OUT and let air IN. Air pots are much better for plants than nonpermeable pots (U of FL).

I was thinking of their wall version:

I don't know about maintenance and upkeep though.  I hear soil-less vertical systems can use a frightening amount of water, but these use soil.
