Menu review/input

I'm having two couples and their kids over for dinner in a few weeks.  I used to work with the one guy, DH still does.  I don't know his wife much.  The other couple live in the neighborhood.  I talk to the wife almost every week, but not so much the husband.  So 6 adults and 4 kids (2 months to 2.5 yrs) for dinner on a Thursday night.  There are no allergies and no vegetarians or other dietary restrictions.

I've never cooked for any of these people.  I know the one couple has a healthy lifestyle and the other couple can share a can of condensed soup and an open-faced bologna sandwich for dinner.

I was thinking simple cheese and crackers out when people get here.  Since it's a work night I don't want to drag things out.

Dinner: chicken kabobs (chicken, yellow squash, zucchini, red onions); spinach salads; fresh rolls; and I'd like to do some sort of rice/pasta/potato side but don't know what.

Dessert: Homemade peach sorbet and pound cake and possible grilled peaches.  I've got a trial run of the peaches this week to see if I can pull it off.

I know my kid will eat the meal, the 10 month old and 2 month old are not eating solids, and the other kid's parents always bring food.

Does this sound good?  What other side would go?
