Hi girls,

I have an interview Friday at a Catholic Schools...I was wondering if any of you could give me an idea as to what an interview looks like in a catholic school? Standard questions with alittle faith? anyone?

Re: XP Catholic School teachers (counselors)????

  • MIL teaches at a catholic school. I know not all of the teachers are catholic so I do not believe she incorporates faith into her interviews.

  • I went to Catholic school my entire life, and I had non-Catholic teachers. I can't imagine they'd ask you any faith-based questions. Most of them pay so little, they'll take what they can get!

  • Another Catholic school-educated person signing in.  My experience is also that not every teacher is Catholic (I know for sure that at least one of them was Jewish) so I'd be surprised if faith was a prerequisite.
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • I had to provide "proof of parish" in order to schedule an interview....i guess fall river diocese means buisness? LOL Thanks :)

    Really?

I'll bet they say "say 10 hail marys!"

  • Yup....and since we've moved since our wedding, (in the church we've been to since before I was born 1974 to be exact) and my church had a hard time believing that i go down there to mass (wrentham to rochester) but they finally signed it.

     HAHAHAHA oh man....that'd be funny

Seriously? That seems like it should be illegal... In my opinion I don't think it's fair that they could deny you a job if you don't belong to a parish. I went to catholic school and a lot of my teachers were not Catholic.

Unfortunately I might agree with you...but I could provide it, and I'm gonna run with it :) anything to get out of shipping mailing equipment and  use my fancy degree again! :)

  • I think they can get away with it because they're a private institution. Doesn't make it any less ridiculous, but I think they do have some leniency there. I know that Eastern Nazarene college requires their employees to be active in a church -it's right there in the job descriptions.

Like I said, I had non-Catholic/Christian teachers all throughout, (kindergarten right through college), but I guess it varies from diocese to diocese.

Also, they might not deny you the job, but if you DO say your catholic when you apply then they'll check it out?

  • I literally sent in a coverletter, with no mention of religion. When they called me for the interview she was like its a part of the packet...you have to be able to provide it before we can set this up or atleast say you'll bring it. if i had showed up friday without it i probably wouldnt have finished the interview unfortunately. It went well....we'll see...I should know by friday or next wed the latest.
